Florida officer accused of threatening to kill woman in attempt to get nude photos

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla.(WESH)  — A police officer in Volusia County is accused of threatening to kill a woman in an attempt to get nude photos from her.

The Orange City officer also allegedly threatened violence against her family.

On Tuesday, Joshua Fancher, 25, was arrested by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office on a felony warrant out of Georgia. He is charged with making terroristic threats.

Officials with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said the messages from Fancher started over Instagram.

They said he made numerous threats, attempting to extort the woman for nude photos.

Fancher is accused of threatening to kill the victim and her 5-year-old brother. He is also accused of threatening to rape her sister, officials said.

Fancher resigned from the Orange City Police Department on Tuesday.

Fancher became an Orange City police officer in December of 2017.

He is being held without bond at the Volusia County Jail.
