Florida mom charged with neglect after unattended children get into parking lot crash


Escambia County, Fla. (WKRG) — The Florida Highway Patrol says three children, all under seven years old, were left alone in their Dodge SUV while their mom shopped in a store.

It happened at around 8:30 Friday night at the Dollar Tree at 8992 Pensacola Boulevard. 

The report says one of the children took control of the vehicle and backed it out of a parking space and then forward into a sedan parked next to them.

” All three children were safe and were not injured. No significant damages were done to both vehicles and property. The mother, Cassady N.Ellis, was arrested and charged with neglect child without great bodily harm and leaving a child(s) in a vehicle unattended.”  — FHP Crash report

According to the jail log, Ellis was released late Friday night after posting a $5,000 bond.
