VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WESH) — Authorities are investigating the death of a man who was killed on I-95 early Saturday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol was called to mile marker 248 for a man that was hit by a car.

Investigators said that the man’s vehicle was stuck in the center median. The man exited his vehicle and stood in the southbound lane attempting to wave down a motorist for assistance. That is when he was hit by a Jeep.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
