Florida cop threatened woman to get nude photos, deputies say

An Orange City police officer is accused of threatening to kill a woman in an attempt to get nude photos from her.

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office officials said Joshua David Fancher, 25, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the Orange City Police Department on a Georgia warrant charging him with making terroristic threats.

Fancher became an Orange City police officer on Dec. 21, 2017.

Officials with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said the messages from Fancher started over Instagram.

The victim had told the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department in Georgia that she was getting threatening messages from an unknown person demanding nude photos from her. Fancher is accused of threatening to kill the victim and her 5-year-old brother, and to rape her sister, officials said.

Fancher resigned Tuesday from the Orange City Police Department. He is being held without bond at the Volusia County Jail.
