TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held a press conference Friday in Palm Beach Gardens to award Barbara Nicklaus with the Florida Medal of Freedom.

Nicklaus became the third recipient of the Medal Friday for her accomplishments as a philanthropic leader and tireless work for the health and well-being of children across the country and globe.

According to Nicklaus’ Florida Woman’s Hall of Fame induction page, “Barbara served on the boards of numerous charitable organizations and is the heart and guiding light of the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation as Chair and Co-Founder.”

“I feel so honored, so proud, and so humbled to receive this unbelievable award from you Governor DeSantis and the State of Florida,” Nicklaus said.

The governor also dedicated Friday, Feb. 25, 2022 as Barbara Nicklaus Day.
