TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis handed out bonus checks to first responders in Jacksonville Monday.

The event took place at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center at around 3 p.m.. The governor was joined by Department of Economic Opportunity Secretary Dane Eagle.

The $1,000 bonus checks were awarded as part of the state’s Freedom First Budget and othe rlegislation that supports both law enforcement and

“Florida supports our first responders because these men and women put on their uniforms every day to serve and protect,” DeSantis said. “These bonuses are a token of our appreciation for the work that they do and the sacrifices they make to keep Florida safe. I am happy to deliver the bonuses for a second year in a row!”
