Daytona Beach police holds wreath-laying ceremony to honor fallen officer


DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WESH) — A wreath-laying ceremony to honor fallen Daytona Beach Officer Jason Raynor was held Thursday.

The public was invited to attend the 11 a.m. ceremony outside the front lobby of the Daytona Beach Police Department headquarters on Valor Boulevard.

The service was led by Chief Jakari Young and was attended by officers and other personnel from the department.

The public is invited to leave mementos they wish to share in Raynor’s honor in front of the patrol car Raynor used, which will be parked in front of the lobby.

If you cannot attend, you are encouraged to visit the memorial site anytime to leave mementos or reflect.

Those wishing to share messages with Raynor’s family are asked to create a video message, which can be sent to the Daytona Beach Police Department’s Facebook page. All video messages are asked to be submitted by 9 a.m. Aug. 23.
