MELBOURNE, Fla. (WESH) — Authorities in Brevard County are searching for a person who tied up a puppy, wrapped it in a sheet, and then dumped him at busy intersection in Melbourne.
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey posted a video Tuesday in which he held the puppy and called for help in identifying whoever abandoned it.
Ivey said the person was driving a small black sports car and it happened around 8 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Parkway Drive and Wickham Road.
Somebody from the city’s parks and recreation department found the puppy. Ivey said the dog is safe and sound.
“Anybody who would do this to an animal, would hurt a human… so we need to get them behind bars,” Ivey said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Melbourne Police Department at (321) 608-TIPS or the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Animal Cruelty Unit (321) 633-2024.
