A woman smiling in a mugshot is accused of causing a deadly crash while driving under the influence.

Authorities said Angenette Marie Welk, 44, of Ocala, was driving under the influence when she hit the back of a stopped Hyundai Elantra driven by 18-year-old Shiyanne Kroll on U.S. 27.

Sandra Clarkson, 60, of Sarasota was Kroll’s passenger.

Welk crashing into the back of Kroll’s vehicle caused Kroll to smash into the back of a trailer that was stopped in front of her, Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to FHP, Kroll and Clarkson were both taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Clarkson succumbed to her injuries.

Welk was charged with driving under the influence and brought to Marion County Jail where she was later released.

FHP said Welk has not been re-arrested since Clarkson’s death, but said they are in the process of upgrading her charges to DUI manslaughter through the state attorney’s office.
