Fans get Lightning tattoos live on Tampa radio show

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — The backlash over towels featuring the Pittsburgh Penguins purchased by the Bradenton Convention and Visitors Bureau, prompted one of the city’s mayoral candidates to do something drastic. He got a Tampa Bay Lightning tattoo Wednesday ahead of Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals in Tampa.

Warren Merriman got the tattoo during The Mike Calta Show on 102.5 The BONE. The tattoo, his first, is inked onto his shoulder blade.

Other fans also received free tattoos by coming to the radio station. Calta partnered with a local tattoo shop, Atomic Tattoos, to give these die-hard fans the chance to be a Bolts fan for life.

“To show my support for the Lightning, I will lead by example and get the first tattoo Wednesday morning,” said Calta, before of the show.

Now, Merriman is challenging current Bradenton Mayor Wayne Poston to do the same.
