Deputies arrest driver accused of killing mother of 2 in Seffner hit-and-run

SEFFNER, Fla. (WFLA) — An arrest has been made in a hit-and-run crash that left a Hillsborough County mother of two dead earlier this month.

Linda Fisher, 46, was hit and killed in early November while walking on Black Dairy Road. Her body was found in a ditch on the east side of the road.

Deputies said the person who hit her drove away, but left behind two paint chips that investigators believed were connected to the suspect’s vehicle. The paint chips were red or orange.

On Sunday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from Crime Stoppers that led them to a 1966 Chevrolet pickup truck.

The truck had damage consistent with the collision that killed Fisher and had recently been painted black, deputies say.

Investigators later arrested Henry Riner, 71, for leaving the scene of a crash with death and tampering with evidence. He was also driving on a permanently revoked license.

“He left her there to die,” neighbor Rick Batten said. “And it’s a sad thing.”

Arrest papers say Riner told investigators he thought he hit a garbage can.

His truck was stored at a home in Plant City after the incident, deputies said.  It’s unclear if the property belongs to friends or family members.

Riner was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail Monday night. A jail worker said he bonded out Tuesday, but was taken to a medical facility for observation.STORIES OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON:
