Virtual reality changes health care in Tampa Bay

Living Local

IMMERTEC is a virtual reality technology company helping surgeons learn new medical practices in a fully immersive environment.

The 3D live-streaming technology overlays different camera angles and instructions onto the virtual reality screen for surgeons to improve accuracy and get assistance when needed.

CEO Erik Maltais said 60 percent of Americans don’t have access to level one and two trauma emergency care.

This technology is able to train doctors or assist in real-time surgeries, regardless of the participant’s physical location.
From simple training exercises to virtual surgical procedures, the new concept allows surgeons to learn new techniques on the latest medical devices from anywhere in the world.
