BOCA RATON, Fla. — Investigators are trying to figure out what made seven aisles of shelves collapse at a Boca Raton Party City store on Tuesday morning.
Palm Beach County firefighters responded to the scene.
PBFR firefighters tweeted dramatic photos from inside the store.
The photos showed the firefighters searching through the rubble for possible victims.
A sheriff’s office K9 assisted in the search.
No victims were found underneath the debris, but three people suffered minor injuries.
Investigators aren’t yet sure what caused the collapse.
WPTV spoke to a person who was inside the store when the shelves collapsed.
LW Black told WPTV that he was installing a greeting card display when the first shelf fell and hit him on his back. He yelled, warning others insde the store.
One witness said she heard the collapse from outside the building.
“It sounded like thunder that didn’t stop. It was a very long thunder,” Susana Seiter told WPTV.
In a statement, Party City said: “The safety of our customers is our number one priority, and we are committed to providing a safe environment.”
The Party City store remained closed on Tuesday.
