TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - A new app is trying to make it easier for supporters of President Donald Trump to find love.
The app is called Donald Daters and has the slogan "Make America Date Again."
It launched earlier this week but is already dealing with some security issues. According to Tech Crunch, a security researcher found issues with the app on launch day and was able to download the entire user database. The researcher, Elliot Alderson, later published an article explaining how he "found" the database.
Emily Moreno, the CEO of Donald Daters, addressed the breach in a statement. She says the team took "swift and decisive action" to fix their mistakes and prevent other breaches from happening.
"As you know, we are under the microscope like no one else because of a bigger problem infecting American politics: Trump supporters face extreme hostility wherever they go – whether they’re at a restaurant or on an online dating app," Moreno's said. "I started this app to provide a solution to so many young Trump supporters who have told me their dating horror stories. For many of them, liberal intolerance has made meeting and dating nearly impossible. Support for the President has become a deal breaker instead of an icebreaker."
On its website, Donald Daters is described as "an American-based singles community" that connects "lovers, friends and Trump supporters alike."
The website says users will receive 25 "finely curated matches" each day that they can connect with. After going through their matches, users can view an activity feeds showing them what other single users are up to in the area.
The team behind Donald Daters started promoting the app on Facebook back in September with posts displaying messages like "Love Trumps All" and "Fox News and Chill."
On launch day, it posted a message to other dating apps saying, "you're fired." The post was a nod to the president's catchphrase from when he hosted the "The Apprentice."
