SHAW, Miss. (WFLA/WTVA) – A grandmother in Mississippi is being held by authorities in connection with an infant’s death.
Authorities say a 20-month-old girl was stabbed and placed in an oven.
It happened Monday night.
At this time, there are no formal charges filed against the grandmother.
Her name has not been released.
The state pathologist will have to determine if the child was dead prior to being placed into the other or vice versa.
The sheriff held a press conference where he stated he’s never seen a crime as gruesome as this one.
“I've seen some horrific things but this one is the most bothersome that I’ve ever encountered. Anytime that there are children involved that’s a different out look to law enforcement,” said Bolivar Sheriff Kelvin Williams.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the case.
