TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - UPDATE | Josephine Bulubenchi, the 3-year-old girl whose uncle authorities say cut her throat has died in a Kentucky hospital.
ORIGINAL STORY | A 3-year-old Kentucky girl is in critical condition after her uncle allegedly attacked her with a knife, officials said.
The Lexington Herald Ledger reports 33-year-old Emanuel Flutur was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and wanton endangerment.
Clinton County sheriff Jim Guffey said the girl's family heard her screaming on a baby monitor and found the child's throat slit. The child's father, Benjamin Bulubenchi's was also injured in the attack.
Flutur was living with his sister's family when the attack took place. The girl is one of nine children.
The child underwent surgery at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital and remains in critical condition.
Further information was not immediately available.
Flutur remains at the Clinton County jail. His bond was set at $500,000 all-cash.
