Jack is a weekend anchor and reporter for WFLA. He joined the 8 On Your Side team in March 2022.
Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Jack’s work has helped earn numerous honors including a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast, and from the Alabama Broadcaster’s Association. His work as a reporter has earned an EMMY Nomination and numerous honors from the Associated Press.
Before joining WFLA, Jack was an anchor & reporter at WIAT CBS 42 in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. He reported on numerous stories that garnered national attention. He covered Doug Jones and Roy Moore on the campaign trail during the 2018 Special Election for U.S. Senate. In 2021, Jack’s work covering Hurricane Ida from New Orleans, Louisiana, was seen on Nexstar Media Group television stations around America. He also reported for NewsNation, a national news and entertainment cable network reaching 75 million television households across the United States.
Prior to joining CBS 42, Jack worked as an anchor and reporter at WVUA 23 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, becoming the youngest nightly news anchor in Alabama at age 19. He covered state politics including the scandal that led to Governor Robert Bentley’s resignation, ongoing tornado recovery efforts, and of course, Alabama Football. His profile on legendary Alabama Football Coach Gene Stallings earned a Telly Award.
He holds a bachelor of arts in telecommunication and film from the university of Alabama. He serves as a mentor to current students through the college of communication & information sciences industry immersion program.
Jack grew up in a newsroom and in a news family. He often tagged along with his dad to work, just a few doors down at WVTM. His father, Mike, is a veteran news anchor in Birmingham. Jack began his professional broadcasting career broadcasting live high school football for 97.7 The Peach WHPH, and was awarded the Judges Award of Merit from the Alabama Broadcaster’s Association for Best Small Market Sportscaster in 2012.
