There is a growing trend in the Tampa Bay area of dads getting paid to parent.
Even though more companies are offering paternity leaves as a parental perk, many men are reluctant to take time off after their baby is born, or in the early stages of adoption.
“I struggled at first with the idea of taking leave, but I can tell you McKinsey is really a team sport and I’ve been both impressed and inspired by the way people have stepped up to cover me while I’m out,” said Robin Roark.
Roark is currently taking paid time off after the birth of his second son.
“I think it’s something that can be great for the health of an organization,” he said.
The firm Roark works for McKinsey & Company, a global management company that offers paid leave to new dads and encourages them to take the much needed time off.
