Viewer cuts trees, bushes so Port Richey neighborhood can get garbage picked up

Better Call Behnken

Overgrown trees and bushes that kept Republic Services from picking up trash for three weeks are finally cut, and piled up trash – gone.

“Thanks to you we got our trees cut and our garbage picked up, all in one day. “

An anonymous Better Call Behnken viewer watched our report about the plight on Ginny Drive and showed up within an hour to cut the trees.

“They came in and did it, didn’t say a word and left,” said resident Richard Ketchum.
Phillip Scott Management and Investments is supposed to the trees..

But Ketchum, a private owner, called Better Call Behnken after he called and called the company, and got nowhere.

“We were at our wits end,” he said. “We didn’t know what to do.”

County officials told me there’s not much they could do to enforce code violations on private roads – unless emergency vehicles can’t get through.

Well now, thanks so someone’s kind gesture, Ketchum won’t have to wait to find out if that would be the case.

“Hopefully it will stay that way,” he said. “I’m just glad someone came out and helped us.”
