PALM HARBOR, Fla. (WFLA) – Katherine Germano won her fight.
After nearly two months of trying to get someone to take responsibility for cutting a hole in Belcher Road that damaged her car, she was paid in full.
Germano turned to Better Call Behnken weeks ago and the county finally figured out who caused this. Clearwater company Cumbey and Fair, a consultant for FDOT, cut the hole in 2016 to locate a county water line.
They failed to pull a permit, and the work was never inspected by the county. Recently, that patch failed and Germano ran over it.
The county fixed the hole, but wouldn’t pay to fix her car.
A representative from Cumbey and Fair says he didn’t know about this until our Better Call Behnken investigation.
Germano was shocked to get the call that the company would reimburse her for damages.
“I worked so hard at talking to so many people and they kept passing me and pointing the finger so I wasn’t sure if anybody was going to come through,” Germano said.
“This guy was very, very nice. He was sorry that he inconvenienced me.”
Now, she can pay off her bill in full and move on.
“It’s a good end to the story, Germano said. “Thank you so much!”
