Chloe Pearson thought she had found the perfect rental home in Sarasota, except for the fact that every single shingle was missing.
Pearson said her agent with rental giant Invitation Homes insisted there was nothing to worry about because the roof would be finished within days.
“She said it would be done within two days and they were just going over it, and after the weekend it would be done,” Pearson said.
Days went by and no one came to fix the roof, then the leaks started showing up.
“These are water spots from the rain,” Pearson told Better Call Behnken when we visited the home, pointing out discolored spots on the ceiling.”There was one when we moved it, but now there are five or six of them.”
“We put a cup under [the ceiling fan] it kept filling up, like 15 minutes we’d have to drain it out,” Pearson said. It’s been 12 days, and she’s worried.
“Mold can grow within 24 hours so having this problem and having it not taken care of in a timely manner is definitely annoying,” added Pearson.
The sales agent recommended Pearson call maintenance and the company sent a roofing company to her home to put up a tarp, but she found there wasn’t even a permit to install the roof.
Pearson decided she’d Better Call Behnken.
A spokesperson looked into the issue and emailed this statement:
