CARY, N.C. -

A Cary woman has been arrested and accused of lying to police investigating the Aug. 22 murder of a nurse in Cary.

Cary police arrested Jessica Renee Parrisher, 28. She appeared in court Wednesday for the charges related to the death of Wendy Johnson.

According to an arrest warrant, Parrisher "unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did become an accessory after the fact to the felony first-degree murder that was committed by Daniel Scott Remington, Jr."

Parrisher is accused of helping Remington escape and providing false statements to detectives G.G. Daniels and J.A. Young of the Cary Police Department.

Remington and Parrisher lived together in Cary just five minutes from where police said Remington shot and killed 58-year-old Wendy Johnson during the course of an attempted robbery.

Keisha Dunbar lived next door to Remington and Parrisher. She said Remington showed no signs of violent behavior.

“Nothing ever made me suspicious, made me feel uncomfortable living beside him,” Dunbar said. “I never would've thought.”

Remington, 36, is accused of murdering Johnson at Hyde Park in Cary. Documents revealed that Remington approached Johnson and tried to steal her purse.

Remington was arrested in Fayetteville Aug. 23 after Cary police contacted the Fayetteville Police Department.

Cary police have not said why they contacted Fayetteville authorities about Remington.
