DAVIS ISLANDS, FL (WFLA) -

Tampa Police are investigating an overnight shooting on Davis Islands.

It happened Tuesday just before midnight at a home at 420 Riviera Drive. Police say a woman who lives there, named Michal Simpson, called 911 to report she shot an intruder.

It turns out the man was her acquaintance.  Andrew Noll, 23, also called 911 from the house to report he had been shot in the chest.  Noll was taken to Tampa General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators spent hours at the home Wednesday morning. They took a bicycle from the front yard and collected other evidence from inside.

They are now investigating why Noll was in Simpson's home and what led up to the shooting.  No charges have been filed.

Police call this an isolated incident and want neighbors to know there's "no cause for alarm".
