POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says they assisted the Orange County Sheriff's Office in the search for a missing Orlando teen in the Champions Gate area in Osceola County.

16-year-old Alexandria Chery has been seen since Monday from Hawthorne Hills Place in Orlando.

Sanel Saint Simon, 43, the longtime boyfriend of Chery's mother, has been arrested and charged with providing false information to a law enforcement officer and attempted destruction of evidence, WESH News reports.

According to his arrest affidavit, Saint Simon is accused of cleaning blood spatter in the home, was the only person in the home while the blood was cleaned, and lying to detectives about his whereabouts on the day of Chery's disappearance.

A march was planned for Chery this afternoon, but her uncle told WESH News they would like the march to be called off.

According to WESH, Chery told her mother, Rosalie Joseph, she wasn't feeling well on Monday and was going to stay home. Joseph called police after making several failed attempts to contact her daughter. When she arrived home, Chery and most of her belongings were missing.
