WEST LIBERTY, Ohio -

Emergency crews responded to a report of a helicopter crash in Liberty Township in Logan County Tuesday afternoon.

Initial reports indicated that the crash occurred along Township Road 188, near Township Road 249 and Township Road 190 at about 4:45 p.m.

According to the Ohio State Highway patrol, the MD500 helicopter, piloted by Leo Boucher, 50, of Manchester, New Hampshire, was using an aerial saw to cut trees for a bike path when it crashed. He was flying southbound at approximately 100 feet above the ground, according to troopers.

The helicopter has a series of saws that hang from its underside, which are used to cut branches.

Boucher transported to Grant Medical Center by Med Flight where he was listed in serious condition.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol's aviation section and the FAA are investigating the crash.
