MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A youth soccer coach in Manatee County has been charged with forced fondling and capital sexual battery on a young girl.

30-year-old Gabriel Gallardo, of Palmetto, was arrested Tuesday. The Manasota Youth Soccer League has voted him out as president. League representative Ester Garcia says the league had an emergency meeting to make the decision.

The victim is a female known to Gallardo, according to the arrest report, not anyone associated with the soccer league.

Gallardo was arrested after the victim disclosed she had been sexually abused by him for three years up until the girl was in middle school. He was between the ages of 22 and 25 when the abuse happened, the arrest report states.

Garcia said Gallardo served as a coach in addition to being the president and the league is completely ending their association with him at this time. The league will resume as scheduled on August 9th

Garcia says she "understands that he has not been proven guilty yet, but the safety of the kids comes first."
