Chae duPont, Founding Partner and head of the Loss Mitigation Group at Morris | duPont, PA, has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1992.
Ms. duPont graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami in 1987, and received her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Miami’s School of Law in 1993.
While in law school, Ms. duPont was a recipient of the Mofsky Scholarship Award, as well as a member of the Honor Council, which investigates and adjudicates alleged violations of the Honor Code of the School of Law.
The Firm’s Loss Mitigation Group assists homeowners in negotiations of loan modifications on first and second mortgages including HELOCs; advises clients who choose to strategically default on their home loans; and, negotiates with lenders to complete short sales, or return of properties via a deed-in-lieu of foreclosure, in a manner that mitigates tax implications and/or risk of deficiency judgments.
Chae also represents clients in complex business litigation in both state and federal court. Ms. duPont has created a niche specialization of fast track resolution of cases through negotiation, mediation and arbitration. In her former position as Director of Litigation at Eastern Air Lines, Ms. duPont managed the arbitration process when the airline litigated against more than 7,600 travel agencies, and personally represented the airline in over 1,200 arbitrations worldwide. As Director of Litigation, she also managed and represented the airline in international lawsuits in all areas of corporate litigation, including real estate, commercial contracts, vendor and passenger claims, and governmental disputes.
