ST PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) -

At a press conference on Wednesday, St. Petersburg Police released the picture of a man they said was arrested during a drug investigation. But, they got it wrong.

The booking photo was that of 18-year-old Martez Davis, who is a St. Petersburg city employee. His photo was plastered on a board next to 19 others who were arrested during an undercover operation into illegal spice sales.

Cops actually arrested 28-year-old Martel Davis during "Operation: POT-pourri." Martel Davis has been arrested by the police department over a dozen times.

Martez Davis' mother, India Jones, who is also a St. Petersburg employee, contacted local media outlets about the mis-identification on Wednesday. She asked that her son's picture be removed from their webpages and news stories. There is no arrest record listed for Martez Davis with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

St. Petersburg Police spokesperson Yolanda Fernandez apologized for the mistake, claiming it was a clerical error.
