Sarasota PD seek armed man who robbed sandwich shop

SARASOTA, FL (WFLA) - Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department are asking for the public’s help in tracking down an armed robbery suspect.

According to a SPD report an unidentified male made off with an undisclosed amount of money from the Subway location in the 1100 block of Washington Blvd. on Saturday night. The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m.

The report states officers were dispatched to the establishment in response to a robbery in progress call. A store clerk told officers that an armed man wearing a black ski mask grabbed another store employee and forced him to open the cash register.

The suspect brandished a black, semi-automatic handgun during the commission of the crime. The man placed the money from the register into a bag before fleeing the eatery on foot.

Several other SPD units were dispatched to the scene to search for the suspect with negative results. If you have any information about this case please contact the Sarasota Police Department at 941-316-1199.
