Clearwater ice cream factory to close

Posted: Updated:
CLEARWATER, FL (WFLA) -

A factory that makes Klondike, Good Humor and Popsicle ice cream products in Clearwater is closing.

The Unilever factory is scheduled to be phased out by early November, Unilever media relations manager Jamie Stein said.

The company still plans to produce the ice cream sandwiches and other products it made at the factory, but transition the work to another facility where new technology has been installed, she said.

It's unclear whether any employees will be able to transfer to a new location.
