LARGO, FL (WFLA) -

Pulling on support from veterans, Gov. Rick Scott announced a new coalition as part of his re-election campaign on Monday.

The "Veterans for Scott" coalition is made up of 58 veterans, government elected officials and veteran activists, according to a press release from the Scott campaign.

The coalition, announced at the Armed Forces Museum in Largo, is co-chaired by retired Brigadier General Chip Diehl and retired LTC US Army Chris Hart.

Speakers at the event highlighted Scott's efforts to bring attention to VA issues and purchase land around military bases.

State Co-Chairman Chip Diehl said, “I am proud to join my fellow Veterans in strongly supporting Rick Scott, a Governor that has led Florida to being one of the nation's most military-friendly states. Governor Scott fought for our military installations and our National Guardsmen through Washington’s gridlock, and was one of the first Governors to tackle problems plaguing our VA hospitals. By promoting our veterans and offering them opportunities to further their education and careers in the state of Florida, he has earned our trust. We’re confident he will lead us with pride in the years ahead."
