WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - Virginia State Police is investigating a short pursuit that ended in a crash.

Police told News Channel 11 a Washington County, Virginia deputy clocked a car at 84 MPH in a 55 MPH zone on Route 11 just before 1:00 AM Sunday.

Police said when the deputy tried to pull the driver over, the driver turned off his headlights and continued driving. According to VSP, a short time later, the driver turned his headlights back on while trying to make a right onto Route 694. VSP officers said the driver lost control, went into a culvert and hit several trees, but was not hurt.

Police said the driver is Andrew Senecal, 18. Deputies charged him with Reckless Driving. VSP charged him with a second count of Reckless Driving and Attempt to Elude. Senecal was given a summons and released.
