NEW TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Doctors from BluePearl Veterinary Partners are working Friday night to save a dog that appears to have been attacked by a wild hog.

Doctors tell us the dog is a female boxer-mix and is approximately 10-year’s old.

James Judge, the media relations manager at BluePearl reports the dog, named River, suffered two puncture wounds that are consistent with a boar attack and a fractured jaw.

Judge reports River was rescued when she was found near the Withlacooche River in the Green Swamp Wildlife Management Area.

BluePearl and Second Chance Boxer Rescue are asking for donations to help offset costs relating to River’s care.
