Judge to set trial date for Pasco movie shooting case

Posted: Updated:
DADE CITY, FL (WFLA) -

A former police captain could find out Wednesday when he will go on trial for killing a man at a movie theater.

Curtis Reeves, 71, has been held at the Pasco County Jail since the January 13 shooting at the Cobb Theater in Wesley Chapel.

Investigators says Reeves started arguing with 43-year-old Chad Oulson over texting during the previews. Witnesses claim the fight quickly escalated. Surveillance video shows Reeves pull out his gun and fire one round at Oulson.

According to an order filed in the case, the judge will set a date for Reeves' murder trial at Wednesday's hearing. The motion asks the attorneys to verify any days between October 8 through December 18 their witnesses would not be available.

The hearing begins at 10 a.m.

WFLA News Channel 8 will be at the Pasco County Courthouse for the hearing. Stay with WFLA.com for updates.
