ST. PETERSBURG, FL. (WFLA) -

The Chihuly Collection presented by the Morean Arts Center is celebrating the fourth anniversary of the Collection’s opening on Friday, July 11 with discounted admission.

The Chihuly Collection, which opened in 2010, continues to be a major arts attraction in the Tampa Bay area and is a major contributor to the transformation of St. Petersburg into the #1 Arts Destination in the country for mid-size cities.

“We are so proud to be such an integral part of the arts community here in beautiful St. Petersburg”, stated Andy Schlauch, Executive Director of the Chihuly Collection. “The Collection is only 4 years in and the possibilities are endless. A big thank you goes out to the people of St. Petersburg for their continued support of the Chihuly Collection and the Morean Arts Center, we wouldn’t be here without them ”, Schlauch continued.

The Collection, located at 400 Beach Drive NE in downtown St. Petersburg, will be open 10am-5pm Friday, July 11 with a special $5 only admission available all day. Discounted admission will also include entrance to live glassblowing demonstrations at the Morean Glass Studio & Hot Shop as well as access to fantastic contemporary art and clay at the Morean Arts Center and Morean Center for Clay.

For those that are unable to attend on July 11, the Chihuly Collection is extending its celebration. During the entire month of July, everyone who purchases a St. Petersburg Art Experience combo ticket will be eligible to win a beautiful print, Sunny Baskets, by Dale Chihuly. This exclusive print conveys the energy and bright sunny days typical of St. Petersburg -- all 75 numbered editions of this piece are available only through The Chihuly Collection.

The Chihuly Collection is conveniently located in the heart of the most vibrant tourist area in St. Petersburg, within walking distance of the Vinoy Resort and Golf Club, the Museum of Fine Arts, Salvador Dali Museum, and a multitude of galleries, restaurants and shops.

Dale Chihuly’s passion and support of children’s art education was a prime reason for choosing St. Petersburg as the home for the Chihuly Collection. All net proceeds stay local to St. Petersburg to help support and sustain the educational programs at the Morean Arts Center.

The Morean Arts Center, with roots dating back to 1917 as the Art Club of St. Petersburg, focuses on an innovative, community-oriented approach to art and art education. The mission of the Morean Arts Center is to connect people with art and to contribute to the economic development of the region. Operating under the Morean Arts Center includes the Chihuly Collection, Glass Studio & Hot Shop and the Morean Center for Clay .
