St. Pete teen who asked to be adopted still looking for a family

Davion Only, the teenage boy who won the hearts of many when he stood up at a St. Petersburg church and asked for someone to adopt him, is still looking for a forever family.

Davion was born in a prison and had lived with foster families for most of his life. He was staying at a group home, when he made his plea in church in October of 2013.

The teen spent time with a prospective family, but it was not a good fit, according Eckerd Youth Alternatives, which is the agency handling Davion's case.

Eckerd released the following statement on Thursday.

"Our quest to find a forever home for Davion and every teenager in the Tampa Bay area in foster care will never stop. Eckerd is devoted to finding the right family and home setting for each of our foster children to thrive in and be successful. Davion is a maturing young man whose perspective on life continues to change as it does with most teenagers.

After Davion spent time with a prospective adoptive family this spring, it was determined that the family was not the right fit for him, with that we are asking for privacy during this stage of his life.”

The Heart Gallery of Pinellas and Pasco County said it had received hundreds of phone calls and email inquiries about Davion after he made his plea in church.

If you are interested in adopting Davion, contact Eckerd Youth Alternatives.
