A thief was taken into custody without incident by police after a neighbor spotted him removing property from a Wake Forest residence.

Wake Forest police received a call around 2:15 p.m. concerning a person breaking into a residence in the 900 block of Shasta Daisy Drive.

Upon arrival, officers found Gerald Ringlbauer, of 6509 Whitier Street in Wake Forest, removing property from the residence, police said.

Ringlbauer was arrested without incident and taken to the Wake County Detention Center, Wake Forest police said.

“We rely on our citizens to be the eyes and ears of the department and encourage them to call us anytime they see something suspicious,” said Wake Forest Police Chief Jeff Leonard.

Anyone witnessing or experiencing suspicious activity is urged to contact the Wake Forest Police Department at 919-554-6150.
