BRISTOL, TN (WJHL) -

Bass Pro Shops is still under construction, but that did not stop officials from allowing News Channel 11’s cameras in to see its progress.

Our cameras caught a sneak peak of the inside of the store and Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill.

Bass Pro Shops has a team of researchers who are filling the store with taxidermy species that are indigenous to the area. Another team is going through the area looking for furniture and local antiques to place in the store.

“There was a barn up on the hill that our developer had. We actually took the barn wood off of the barn and we built a barn structure back in our archery counter so that back wall of archery will actually have real barn wood from this area,” said General Manager Jeff Hall.

The 104,000 square foot store will feature men’s, women’s, and kids’ apparel, a boat department, ATV sales, marine electronics, and areas related to fishing, camping, hunting, and archery.

The 19,000 square feet Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill will have two 6 lane bowling alleys and a boat shaped bar. A ship in the ceiling will feature a 15-foot great white shark coming out of a hole in the hull.

“It's pretty exciting with the imagery team in here and painting all the murals on the walls. They are in the restaurant doing all the coral and the murals for the restaurant. It's going be an underwater/under the sea type of theme. Just a pretty cool experience!” said Hall.

The store, once it is open, will employ about 175 people and the restaurant will employ around 125.

Bass Pro Shops grand opening is slated for August 21 and a pre-opening is scheduled on the evening before its grand opening on August 20 from 6:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. Organizers tell News Channel 11 they hope to have special celebrities on hand.

This will be Bass Pro’s 66th store.
