GARNER, N.C. -

A group of local veterans united Friday to help clean up Memorial Park in Garner.

Members of the U.S. Veterans Corps replaced benches and picnic tables along side teens from a Mormon organization.

Members of the church group said it was an honor to bring beauty to the park honoring those who serve.

“Those are the people that are protecting our freedoms and the rights that we enjoy. I love the members of the military and it's great to get to work alongside them and this project is great,” said Alex Bennett.

The U.S. Veterans Corps focuses on doing projects for the military, veterans and the community.
