PASCO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A suicidal man on a jealous rampage is charged with abandoning his kids and killing his ex-wife's boyfriend.

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco says Amy and Erick Reinhart, 42, just had their divorce finalized a few days ago.

Deputies were dispatched to Amy Reinhart's Lutz home Thursday at 11:45 p.m. after her sister called 911 about a domestic disturbance.

When deputies arrived at the house on Oakhaven Court, they found a man dead inside a bedroom and Erick Reinhart threatening to kill himself with a large knife. Amy Reinhart and her sister had taken refuge in a locked room.

Nocco says Erick Reinhart stabbed himself in the stomach and throat. He was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.

The victim's name has not been released.

Sheriff Nocco said Erick Reinhart left his 5 and 6-year-old children home alone Thursday night when he went to his ex-wife's house. The children are now safe and will be reunited with their mother.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is changing management rules of invasive lionfish to remove them from state waters. Lionfish was introduced to state waters in the 1980s, and since then, populations have boomed in recent years, negatively impacting native wildlife and habitat, the FWC says.
