TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - South Tampa's popular SoHo dining and entertainment district could undergo a major beautification overhaul if local business owners get their way.

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn will be at a charity event to celebrate the history of Howard Avenue with trail blazers and business leaders that invested heavily to make it South Tampa's hot spot.

Restaurant owners want to suggest ideas how to make it even better.

"All I want are lined streets with like landscape lamp post," said Jeff Gigante of the Ciccio Restaurant Group. "I don't need the real crosswalks let's paint them on. But, I want to make it looks like you're in the SoHo dining district."

Gigante will join other restaurant owners at a charity event being held tonight at Copperfish located at 1502 S Howard Ave. In Tampa. The event starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 9. There will be food, music and entertainment on hand, and all proceeds will go to charity.
