An Arizona mother wants to send a message to other parents about energy drinks after her teenage daughter suffered a heart attack and died.

Kris Hamann told KPHO in Phoenix that it appeared her daughter Lanna Hamann, 16, was drinking energy drinks instead of water while she was on the beach in Mexico with friends.

Saturday night, the teen said she was not feeling well and then went into cardiac arrest.

Kris Hamann told KPHO that it was something that could have happened anywhere.

"(Parents should) make sure they're watching their kids. (Watch) what they're drinking and (make sure) they're drinking water instead of an energy drink," Hamann told KPHO.

The station is also reporting that the family is having problems bringing the teen's body back to the U.S. because of problems with her birth certificate. As of Tuesday, the family had spent more than $13,000.

Money is being raised to return the teen's body. A Twitter campaign is underway using the hashtag #GetLannaHome.
