CITRUS COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - A lightning strike set a house on fire in Citrus County, according to the Citrus County Sheriff's Facebook page. The home was destroyed.

The firefighters responded to 134 N. Craus Point in Lecanto Monday evening. They were able to save the family cat before they had to get out of the burning house, but two other pets were lost in the fire, firefighters said.

More than a week ago a lightning strike set ablaze a Carrollwood apartment building.

According to the CCSO post, the building and its contents were valued at $500,000 and the home was a total loss.
