SARASOTA COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested two Miami men who they say used fake credit cards to buy thousands of dollars' worth of merchandise and gift cards.

Investigators say Adrian Fernandez and Jose Marquez-Hernandez had 11 counterfeit cards with them, and another 99 cards in a bag, imprinted with their names.

Deputies arrested the men after an employee of the Walmart store at 4831 Cattlemen Road recognized the pair from the last time they allegedly committed fraud at that location.

Fernandez and Marquez-Hernandez made several transactions, deputies say, and when their cards did not work, they kept going until they found one that did.

Deputies found their credit cards were cloned, with victims' banking information on the rear magnetic strip.

Fernandez and Marquez-Hernandez also had $4,000 in gift cards, 17 cartons of cigarettes, 10 bags of clothing, and children's toys in their rental car.
