Scott highlights human trafficking fight at Tampa campaign stop

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) - Gov. Rick Scott promoted efforts to fight human trafficking and got a tour of a pantry in need of supplies to help victims at a campaign event in Tampa on Monday.

“If you’re doing something illegal and you’re the person who put someone in human trafficking, we’re going to find you,” Scott said.

Scott is kicking off his latest campaign swing with multiple stops around the state. Other tours have focused on issues such as lower fees for auto vehicle renewals and funding for Florida ports.

Scott visited the Hyde Park United Methodist church in downtown Tampa and was joined by members of Selah Freedom, a Sarasota-based organization that aids victims of human trafficking.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who attended the church when she lived in Tampa, and Florida lawmakers including state Rep. Ross Spano and state Rep. Jamie Grant also attended the event.
