The mother of the man investigators say killed his family before setting their Avila home on fire is the heir to the family’s estate, according to a document filed in Hillsborough County Court.

Mary Catherine Campbell, the mother of Darrin Campbell, lives in Arizona and is the sole heir to the estate, according to the document. Darrin Campbell’s brother, Dale Robert Campbell, filed to be her personal representative in estate proceedings.

The assets of the family and their family are as unknown, according to court filings.

Along with the estate documents, the death certificates of the four Campbell family members are filed with the court.

Colin, 18, and Megan, 15, are listed as students. Their mother, Kimberly, is listed with “interior design” as her occupation. Their dates of death are not specific on the certificates, which say “Found on May 7, 2014.”

Darrin Campbell, presumed to have died last, is listed as “widowed.”

Investigators are still trying to determine what led to the murders. They have been looking at the family’s finances and computers from the scene were taken to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for analysis.

The case could be closed soon, but it could be closed without a final determination of motive, a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said.
