Bay area hurricane expos

Posted: Updated:

It’s that time of year when all of us should take a minute and make sure we have our personal Hurricane Plan in place. As most of us know, our hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30.

With that said, in the upcoming weeks, several counties in WFLA’s viewing area have scheduled Hurricane Expos to give you the information you’ll need to keep your family safe. Below is a list the upcoming Hurricane Expos in our area you can take advantage of:

· TAMPA BAY HURRICANE EXPO (Hillsborough/Sarasota/Manatee Counties), MAY 31 at MOSI, Tampa http://www.tampabayhurricaneexpo.com/

· PASCO HURRICANE EXPO, JUNE 8 at J Ben Harrill Recreation Ctr, Pasco http://suncoastnews.com/su/list/news-pasco/hurricane-expo-to-feature-radio-disney-interactive-games-20130604/

· POLK COUNTY HURRICANE SEASON, JUNE 11 at Joker Marchant Stadium, Lakeland http://hurricaneexpo.polk-county.net/

· PINELLAS COUNTY HURRICANE & NATURAL DISASTER EXPO 2014, JUNE 14 at Science Center of Pinellas County, St. Petersburg http://www.webtradeshows.com/2014HurricaneFlyer.pdf

Both Hernando and Citrus Counties have already had their perspective Expos earlier this month.

“For the most part, all of us who live in Central Florida have been lucky the past couple of years,” says Steve Jerve, Chief Meteorologist at News Channel 8. “That’s why it’s so important to equip and prepare yourself with the most recent and best possible information.”

For more information on Hurricane Preparedness, go to WFLA.com and click on the WEATHER tab and select “Hurricane-Ready.”

“Surviving the Storm: A Storm Team 8 Special” will air on Saturday, June 31 from 7-8 p.m.
