PINELLAS COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - A mother is dead and her son, who allegedly stabbed her, was shot and killed by deputies, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says.

Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene at 2917 Pine Cone Circle in Eastwood Pines, Clearwater, around 12:15 p.m. Friday.

Deputies responded to the High Point home after the woman's son, 36-year-old Justin Tucker, called 9-1-1 to report he had stabbed and killed his mother, 67-year-old Kathryn Clark.

Upon arrival, deputies found the mother dead on the ground with a butcher knife next to her body.

The son was heard yelling in the home and made his way outside armed with a "dark object," which appeared to be weapon. Corporal Pete Doyle ordered him numerous times to stop, but the suspect continued to approach the deputies and Doyle fired several shots. The suspect died at the scene.

Neighbors familiar with the family said there was no indication of problems in the home.  Michael Caldwell said the son hangs out at the pool and a nearby bar, called The Banana Boat.  He said he is glad he wasn't around when the man with the knife got upset.

Neighbors said the home was shared by the mother, her husband, and the adult son.

No deputies were injured in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
