TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Part of an entry from Julie Shenecker’s journal read: “I offed Beau on the way to practice, I offed him.”

The journal ended up being a key piece of evidence helped send her away for life.

“A shot to his mouth because he became too mouthy, just like Calyx,” said Assistant State Attorney Jay Pruner.

In closing arguments, Schenecker's defense team tried again, to convince the jury she was not sane when she shot Calyx and Beau.

“She didn't chose this illness, this illness chose her,” said Jennifer Spradley.

After the verdict, a stoic Parker Schenecker, now divorced from Julie, expressed relief for his family.

“The most important in all if this is Calyx and Beau, my lovely children. My smart, beautiful loved and missed daughter and son,” said Parker Schenecker.

Standing with his mother, Nancy, Parker Schenecker reminded members of the media about his nearly 30 years of defending the U.S. justice system in the Army.

He called the court system the best in the world, and believes the guilty verdict will help people remember how his children lived their lives.

“Giving voice to them has been my priority throughout this entire process. And their voices have been heard due to the efforts of many,” he said.
