POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - This week in Polk County, you might see police officers snacking on cookies or cupcakes instead of the stereotypical donut. That's because local school children and the spouses of law enforcement officers have been busy spoiling these cops with cookies and cupcakes in honor of National Police Week.

The students and wives of law enforcement officers made cards and decorated cookies and cupcakes with black, blue and white frosting. The goodies are being delivered to local police agencies all week.

"To let them know how important they are to us," said Dani Thompson, whose fiancee, Justin Minser, is a Sergeant with the Winter Haven Police Department.

"It can be a really tough job," the mother of four told WFLA.com after delivering cards and treats to the Auburndale and Winter Haven Police Departments on Wednesday.

Cards made by the kids include charming drawings of police cars and American flags. One card spells P-O-L-I-C-E using the descriptive words P-olite, O-verwhelming, L-oving, I-ncredible, C-aring, and E-xciting.

Thompson is a member of the Central Florida Law Enforcement Wives organization, a group that provides supports to law enforcement and their families.
